Hiro is a 14-year-old boy who spends most of his free time participating in illegal robot fights. To redirect Hiro, his older brother Tadashi takes him to the university's robotics lab. Amazed, Hiro decides to run for university. To register, he presents his project: microbots, swarms of small robots that can connect to each other.
